Privacy Policy

Monster Skate Park is owned by Sydney Olympic Park Authority and operated under licence by ARD Productions Pty Ltd, together referred to as “Monster” for the purpose of this Policy.

Monster understands that your privacy is very important and that you have the right to control your personal information. Monster attaches a high priority to the way information is collected, stored, used and disclosed, and undertakes to act with integrity at all times when dealing with information that you have entrusted to us.

Monster complies with the statutory requirements relating to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of personal information, as regulated by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act. Any information you provide about yourself to Monster will only be used in accordance withMonsters Customer Privacy Statement as detailed below and Sydney Olympic Park Authority’s Privacy Management Plan. Throughout this policy we refer to users and members, they are defined as follows:

Users – A visitor to Monster Skate Park or website or person who contacts Monsterthrough email, phone or post.
Member – A person who has registered to become a Monster Website Member or Monster Park Member and receive specific information from Monster.

How we collect your information

We collect information from our users in many ways. Through our website, email, hard copy mail, fax and via telephone and in person at Monster Skate Park. These include:

  • registration forms for Monster Website membership and Monster Park membership
  • the Monster rider waiver form
  • feedback forms, competition and special offer entry forms
  • through visitation to the Park and our website
  • when making a booking, enquiry or purchase in the Monster Skate shop.

Types of information we collect

We collect a range of information including; personal information; anonymous information such as website usage and visitation; and video footage captured via web cameras.

Personal Information
When collecting personal information we may collect details such as, home or work place addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, your date of birth, your interests, how you heard about us and other information.

The minimum information we require to become a Monster Website or Park Member includes: ‘First Name’, ‘Last name’, ‘email address’, ‘suburb, ‘phone number’, ‘How did you find out about us’ and ‘What are your Interests’. A username and password must also be submitted. All other registration questions are voluntary.

We may also ask some further questions for different purposes, such as competitions, feedback forms or opinion polls, so we can gain a clearer understanding of our Users and Members.

The provision of personal details in all cases is optional.

Monster Rider Waiver

Every person who skates or rides at Monster Skate Park must sign a waiver the first time they come to the Park. This only needs to be completed once. Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the form. For full details visit the Download Waiver page

Website Usage Information
When you access our website, our web server logs anonymous information for standard statistical analysis, such as:

  • the computer IP address the website is accessed from
  • the date and time of your visit
  • the pages you viewed
  • the type of browser you are using
  • the operating system used to access the site.
     

The statistics package collates the data into information and graphs for use in understanding the usage patterns of visitors to our website. The statistics package does not identify any individual user during this process.

Web Cameras
Monster has one web camera positioned within the grounds of the Skate Park. This camera is connected to the Monster website and only available to Monster Website Members. Members are able to control the camera and view the park, utilising the camera’s zoom, pan and tilt capabilities.

Why we collect your information and what we do with it

Any information submitted to Monster is treated with the utmost respect for your privacy. Where we collect personal information from you, we will only contact you ourselves for purposes relating to the operation of Monster Skate Park. Monster will collect your information primarily to provide a service to you or to help us improve our services.

We may do the following with the information you have submitted:

  • mail or email you occasionally with personalised information or updates from Monster relating to your membership or subscription.
  • contact you by email, mail or telephone (if you have provided these details) for the purpose of providing you a service you have requested, inform you if you have won a competition or are eligible for a special offer, or allow us to update your personal information
  • from time to time we may run competitions or request material we can publish. To participate, you may need to supply us with your identity, which you agree to have publicly associated with your submission. The exact rules vary from case to case and will be noted clearly in the relevant Terms and Conditions for that case. Your participation will always be voluntary and knowing
  • anonymous information, such as website visitation where no personally identifying information is obtained, is used for aggregated statistical purposes. For example, we may report on how many users viewed this privacy page today. This reporting is done to acquire a better understanding of our users to improve and provide better services to you
  • any research carried out via our websites is for the exclusive use of Monster unless specifically stated at the time of completion.

Information shared with other organisations

We will never share your personally identifying information with a third party without your explicit permission/consent, unless:

  • required by law
  • we believe it necessary to provide you with a service which you have requested
  • to protect the rights or property of Monster, any user, or any member of the public
  • to lessen a serious threat to a person's health or safety. 

Your information though will be shared with the owner and operator of Monster. This is to facilitate the operation of the Park and provide services to Users and Members only.

At times we may share anonymous information with our advertisers, sponsors and partners. Whilst your individual information is protected as outlined above, we may use aggregated, anonymous data about our users as a group, for statistical purposes. For example, we might report to our partners that a certain percentage of our users are interested in certain events and activities, based on information requests. This is done to attract better and improved services for our users from our advertisers, sponsors and partners.

Information collected from children

Parental consent is required when personal information is obtained from children, for example the Monster Rider Waiver. There are situations though, such as online registrations, competitions and feedback forms, where children do provide information. Monster understands the importance of protecting the safety and privacy of children using our services, so encourage parents/carers to monitor at all times their child’s online experience and when providing information to us.

Access to your personal information

If you are a Monster Website Member you may view and update your personal information that we collect from you online at any time via the "Change My Details" page. You can access this page by logging into the site.

Alternatively, you may view and update your personal information that we collect from you at any time by contacting the Privacy Officer at Monster. See below for contact details.

How to stop receiving communications

Monster will comply with any request from you to remove information about yourself, unless the information is required for fulfilling an existing service obligation to you.

If you are a Monster Website member, log into the website and click on the "Change My Details" link and change the option to receive ‘information and updates from the Monster’.

Alternatively, use the following ways to be removed from receiving electronic and mail communications:

  • links to ‘Change My Details’ are provided at the bottom of all electronic communications sent by Monster.
  • reply to any electronic communications with the word ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ in the subject heading
  • email skate@monsterpark.com.au with ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ in the subject heading.

Security

Monster operates a secure data network that is designed to protect your privacy and security. All personal information is stored on internal servers, protected by firewalls only accessible to employees of Monster and it’s associated parties with appropriate permission levels. Our web server is hosted in a secure data centre, operated by Macquarie Telecom.

Privacy Policy changes

This privacy policy may be modified or expanded, particularly as new industry codes are introduced. All changes will be posted on our website and will operate from the time they are posted.
